AdCycle does not adequately validate user input thereby allowing for SQL injection
OverviewAdCycle does not adequately filter user input, allowing remote attackers to execute arbitrary MySQL queries.
I. DescriptionAdCycle is a shareware banner ad management system written in Perl and designed to work with a MySQL database. AdCycle does not adequately filter multiple unspecified CGI variables before passing them to MySQL queries. As a result, attackers may execute arbitrary queries on the MySQL database.II. ImpactRemote attackers may read or modify data stored in AdCycle's MySQL database and other databases to which the AdCycle CGI process has access.III. SolutionThe CERT/CC is currently unaware of a practical solution to this problem.Systems Affected
