Vulnerability Note VU#179105RealNetworks GameHouse dldisplay ActiveX control stack buffer overflowsOverviewThe RealNetworks GameHouse dldisplay ActiveX control contains multiple stack buffer overflows, which could allow a remote, unauthenticated attacker to execute arbitrary code on a vulnerable system.I. DescriptionRealNetworks GameHouse is a web site that provides games. GameHouse has an ActiveX control called dldisplay, which is provided by ghdlctl.dll. This ActiveX control contains multiple stack buffer overflows.II. ImpactBy convincing a user to view a specially crafted HTML document (e.g., a web page or an HTML email message or attachment), an attacker may be able to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the user. The attacker could also cause Internet Explorer (or the program using the WebBrowser control) to crash.III. SolutionWe are currently unaware of a practical solution to this problem. Please consider the following workaroundsDisable the GameHouse dldisplay ActiveX control in Internet Explorer
